By Captain/EMT Dan Devitt
February 27, 2020

At 2237 hours Station 15-1 was dispatched to 110 French Avenue for a reported dwelling fire.

Camden County Communications received a call from the resident stating that he had smoke coming from the chimney and that everyone was out of the house.

At 2239 hours Battalion 15 arrived on scene and reported a 2 ½ story duplex (end of the row) with light smoke showing from the second floor.

Upon further investigation Battalion 15 confirmed all occupants were out of the residence and found heavy smoke on the second floor with possible fire in the walls.

Squirt 15-1 responded with a staffing of four and were given orders from Battalion 15 to go into operation with a 1 ¾ to the second floor for fire suppression upon arrival.

Tower Ladder 15 responded with a crew of 6 and was advised by command to ladder the "B" side of the dwelling and open up the interior/exterior of the second floor. Tower Ladder 15 split their crew and assisted with fire suppression with a second 1 ¾ hand line.

At this time, command had visible fire showing in the walls on the first and second floors, as well as in the soffit. The "All Hands" was transmitted at this time.

Primary and secondary searches had been conducted and all proved negative. Command reported there were (2) 1 ¾ hand lines in service and companies were opening up the walls on the first and second floors.

Engine 1512 responded with a staffing of five and upon arrival secured a primary water supply for Squirt 15-1.

Rescue 15-1 responded with a staffing of six and upon arrival assumed the RIT function.

Ladder 14-1 arrived and prepared to set their main up on the "B" side of the dwelling. Squad 1-1 arrived simultaneously with Ladder 14-1. Crews from Ladder 14-1 and Squad 1-1 assisted interior/exterior crews with opening up and checking for extension.

All companies operated on scene extinguishing hot spots and with no additional extension command noted that the fire was placed under control at 2314 hours.

The fire is under investigation by the Haddon Township Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Ladder 18 and Squad 15-2 provided a cover assignment for Station 15-1 while companies were committed on scene.
