At 1112 hours Task Force 16 (District 16, Engine 1512, and Ladder 1324) was dispatched to the Universal Deli located at 329 Haddon Avenue for a reported building fire. Engine 1613 responded and was advised that Police were on location reporting heavy smoke showing 1st and 2nd floors.

Engine 1512 responded under the command of Assistant Chief Mike Vitelli with a staffing of five. Engine 1613 arrived on location confirmed the police report and transmitted the "All-Hands" signal. 1613 advised 1512 that they had established their own water supply and upon arrival 1512 was to stretch a secondary 1 ¾" hand line to the second floor for fire suppression.

Ladder 1514 responded on the "All-Hands" under the command of Captain Frank Jackson 5th with a staffing of six and upon arrival assisted interior crews with opening up. Collingswood Fire Chief John Amet then transmitted the 2nd Alarm bringing the covering companies into the job along with Squirt 1511 and BLS 1557.

Squirt 1511 responded under the command of Lieutenant John Vernon with a staffing of four and upon arrival assisted the crews with opening up along with salvage and overhaul. Interior crews reported all visible fire knocked down and no further extension noted the fire was placed under control.

The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.
