Life Member Passes Away

It is with deep regret that the Westmont Fire Company announces the passing of Captain William M. Anderson after a lengthy illness, on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the age of 90.

He was the beloved husband of Lillian R. Anderson (nee Proudfoot) for 62 years, loving father of Mary Jo Fege and her husband Rev. Hartmut Fege of Oceanview, NJ, dear brother of Jessoline Mitchell of Sandwich, MA, grandfather of Meredith L. Monroe (Tyler), Scott W. Marks (Suzanne) and Eric M. Marks (Sharon) all of South Carolina and great grandfather of Joshua, Jacob, Hannah and Noah. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Westmont Fire Company since 1962, most recently serving as Fire Police Captain. On July 4, 2007, Captain Anderson was awarded the first ever Life Membership by the Westmont Fire Company. He was also a member of the Camden County Fire Police and Haddon Township Police Reserve.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday evening, September 5th from 6 to 7 PM at the Church of Our Savior, Wood Lane & Wayne Ave., Haddonfield, NJ 08033. Funeral services will follow at 7 PM. Interment private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the Church of Our Savior or Westmont Fire Company No. 1, 120 Haddon Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108.
