It is with great pride to announce that, this evening, the Westmont Fire Company elected Daniel F. Devitt, Chief of the Department at their Annual Meeting replacing Past Chief John D. Medes who had served as Chief since 2007. Chief Devitt becomes just the thirteenth Chief in the 119 year history of the Westmont Fire Company.

A member of the department since he was 18 years old, Chief Devitt also spent four years as an explorer prior to joining the senior company. Throughout his twenty years in Westmont he has risen through the ranks first as an Engineer in 2003, then as an engine Lieutenant in 2008 and again as a Captain in 2012. In 2008, after eight years of service as a volunteer with the Westmont Fire Company, he was hired as a career firefighter/EMT.

Chief Devitt is a third generation firefighter following his grandfather Bill, who also served as Chief with Ashland Fire Department and his father, also Bill, who served as a Captain with the Oaklyn Fire Department. Both also served as firefighters in Westmont.

Please join us in wishing Chief Medes well in his retirement and congratulating Chief Devitt and wishing him well as he embarks in his new position.
