Audubon 2nd Alarm Dwelling Fire

At 1510 hours, Rescue 15-1 was dispatched to 50 East Vassar Road in Audubon for a working dwelling fire as companies were on location with fire conditions on the second and third floors of the structure.

Rescue 15-1 arrived on scene and stretched an 1 ¾” hand line from Ladder 18 to knock the volume of fire down on the exterior so the interior companies could make a push. Once the exterior fire was knocked, Rescue 15-1 then went interior with the hand line to assist interior crews with fire conditions on the second and third floors.

Three hand lines were being used on the second floor to knock down the volume of fire so crews could attempt to make access to the third floor. With conditions on the interior deteriorating Command transmitted the emergency activation and brought all interior crews out.

Once all companies on the interior were out and PAR was made, Companies darkened down the fire on all floors and transitioned back into an offensive mode. Command transmitted the second alarm to bring additional manpower to the scene.

Once all visible fire was knocked down, interior crews opened up and started to extinguish pockets of fire hidden in the walls and ceilings throughout the structure.

Once all extension was found and extinguished, Companies on scene were slowly demobilized and released.
