Yesterday, members of the Westmont Fire Company No 1. and Malaga Fire Company (Gloucester County) trained in Water Rescue and Emergency Response . After hours of classroom lectures, the members travelled to Solebury, PA, along the Delaware River, for practical evolutions in swift water rescue.

The class was taught by Assistant Chief. Hank Voigtsberger and the members of START Rescue Training. Members completed evolutions in throw bag operations, shallow river crossings and swimming with and against the currents.

Upon completion of the course, members received an Operation-Level Certificate in Water Rescue in compliance with NFPA1670.

The members and Officers of the Westmont Fire Company No.1 and the Haddon Township Board of Fire Commissioners would like to thank the Katz JCC of Cherry Hill for the use of their Aquatics Area for training.
