On a frigid Thursday morning, Task Force 14 (Station 14-1, Ladder 1324 and Engine 213) was dispatched to 43 Truman Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. Upon arrival, 1402 (Assistant Chief Trotman) found a 3 story balloon frame dwelling with heavy smoke showing first and second floors. At that time he transmitted the "All-Hands" signal bringing Rescue 1516 (Westmont) as FAST and Squad 1362 (Cherry Hill) as the additional engine company. Assistant Chief Trotman reported heavy fire conditions in the basement and to have the first due engine stretch off on arrival.

With conditions in the dwelling deteriorating, 1410 transmitted the second alarm bringing Squad 272 (Lawnside) Quint 914 (Barrington) and Rescue 1375 (Cherry Hill). As interior conditions continued to worsen, the emergency evacuation signal was ordered. With all crews accounted for, command transmitted the third and eventually the fourth alarms.

Companies were in defensive operation until late in the morning. No injuries were reported and the fire in under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office.
