Life Member and Former Captain Passes

It is with deep regrets that the Westmont Fire Company announces the passing of former Captain, and Life Member, Carl J. Ellinwood.

Carl joined the Westmont Fire Company as a junior member in 1959 and became a senior member in 1964. Assigned to the rescue company, Carl was active throughout the 1960's and 1970's, rising through the ranks first as Lieutenant and finally as Captain.

In 2009, Carl was honored as a Life Member of the Westmont Fire Company and remained an active member to the end, assisting around the firehouse in any way he was able.

The following are the funeral arrangements for Captain Ellinwood:

On April 10, 2013, age 69, of Audubon, NJ, formerly of Westmont, NJ. Beloved husband of 30 years to Carrie M. (nee Wood). Loving father of Kimberly Coco (John) of Cape May Court House, NJ, Carl J. Ellinwood, Jr. of Audubon, NJ and Nicole Sylvester (Jesse) of Audubon, NJ. Devoted grandfather of Johnny Coco, Randy Coco, Macey Coco, Natalie Sylvester & baby Addison due in July. Carl was a Veteran of the US Marine Corp. He worked as a Financial Officer for over 47 years. Carl was a past Rescue Captain of the Westmont Fire Co. No. 1 and later became a Life Member. He loved coaching soccer and spending time with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Monday from 7 to 9 PM at the JACKSON FUNERAL HOME, 308 Haddon Ave., Westmont, NJ. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish ST. VINCENT PALLOTTI CHURCH, 901 Hopkins Rd., Haddon Twp., NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Westmont Fire Company No. 1, 120 Haddon Ave., Westmont, NJ 08108.
