At 2234 Hours Station 15-1 and BLS 1557 dispatched to 57 Strawbridge Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. At 2237 hours Squirt 15-1 responded under the command of Captain John Young with a staffing of 5.

Squirt 15-1 was given the report from Communications that they were receiving numerous calls of fire showing from the residence with residents possibly still inside. The address was then corrected to 51 Strawbridge Avenue.

Squirt 15-1 arrived and found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the dwelling and transmitted the “All Hands” signal. Ladder 15-1 responded under the command of Captain Bill Tessing 4th with a staffing of 6 and upon arrival assisted Squirt 15-1 with hose line deployment and started to a primary search of the residence.

Companies on the interior were faced with extremely high temperatures and zero visibility due to the fire being wind driven from the rear of the residence to the front. Chief Medes arrived on location and was advised that all occupants were accounted for.

Squad 16 arrived on scene and stretched an additional hose line to the second floor for fire suppression and to assist the crew of Ladder 15-1 with the searches. Ladder 15-1 reported the primary searches were negative.

Engine 1512 arrived on scene with a staffing of 5 and completed the split lay and obtained a water supply for Squirt 15-1. At the ten minute mark, Chief Medes reported he had two hose lines in operation with crews on the interior making a push to extinguish the heavy volume of fire on the interior.

The crew from Engine 1512 then assisted interior crews with checking for extension. BLS on scene checked the occupants who were inside of the residence and two were transported for precautionary reasons.

Squad 14 who responded on the “All Hands” arrived on scene and assumed the RIT role, Division A. Rescue 15-1 arrived on scene and assumed the RIT role in the rear of the residence. At the 30 minute mark, with the fire knocked down and no extension noted the fire was placed under control.

Crews remained on scene to assist the Haddon Township Fire Marshal. Once the Fire Marshal was finished the investigation, crews were released. The resident obtained his own board up company.
