At 1840 Hours, MVU 1 (Mobile Ventilation Unit) was dispatched to Pennsauken Township at the Central School for a Building Fire. Pennsauken Units were on location with a working fire in the auditorium of the school with a heavy smoke condition throughout the entire school.
Pennsauken Chief Joe Palumbo had MVU 1 set up at the front doors upon arrival. MVU 1 responded under the command of Lieutenant Bob Callahan. Upon arrival MVU 1 met with command and set up.
The main fan was used outside along with the smaller electric fans inside the school to assist in venting smoke from the building. Companies used the fan for over an hour to remove the smoke condition from every level of the school.
Once the smoke was removed MVU 1 was released by Chief Palumbo.
