| On Saturday December 3rd at 1:58 pm, BLS 1557 was dispatched to a two car MVA at the intersection of Cuthbert Rd. and Emerald Ave. The first due ambulance was advised en route that there were multiple injuries. The crew requested that BLS 1558 be toned out as well as Engine 1512.
BLS 1557 arrived on scene at 2:00 pm and found that the accident was a head on collision with multiple persons injured. As BLS 1558 and Engine 1512 were arriving at 2:02 pm and 1557's crew members were interviewing the passengers, they found that 3 of the 5 persons involved were in need of emergency care. BLS 1559 was then immediately requested to assist and arrived only minutes from the initial dispatch.
Westmont's volunteer EMT's and firefighters worked together quickly and efficiently to extricate, treat and transport all of the injured patients. The passengers were then transported to Cooper Hospital for further trauma evaluations.
BLS 1557, BLS 1558, and BLS 1559 cleared from Cooper Trauma Center at 2:47 pm. It marked the first time in the few short months of running three BLS Units that all three have been in use simultaneously and at the same call. |
