| At 2150 Hours Task Force 16 (District 16, Engine 1512, Rescue 15-1, Squad 5-1, and BLS 1557) was dispatched to the Heights of Collingswood "D" Building on the 8th floor for a reported apartment fire.
Engine 1512 responded under the command of Lieutenant Dan Devitt with a staffing of five.
All responding units were advised that the caller was reporting smoke on the 8th floor coming from an unknown apartment. As Squad 16 arrived, they were advised that police were on location reporting heavy smoke on the 8th floor. Squad 16 made their way up to the 8th floor with their high rise kit they reported a fire in Apartment 802.
Engine 1512 stood by the standpipe and the crew went forward. The crew of 1512 was given orders to head to the 7th floor and hook the standpipe. Command then transmitted the "All-Hands" signal. Ladder 11-2, Engine 11-3, Rescue 3-2, MASK Services 11-4 and Rehab 13 were dispatched. 1512's crew then hooked Squad 16's high rise kit up as they were doing a primary search of the fire apartment.
Engine 1512 then laid out to the hydrant 700 ft away to establish a water supply. Squad 5-1 then hooked up a secondary 1 ¾" hand line to on the fire floor and stood by. 1512's crew met Squad 16 at the door to the apartment and reported the primary search was negative and that the fire was in the kitchen.
1512's crew made a quick knockdown of the fire. The crew of Rescue 15-1 reported to the 9th floor to check for extension and the status of occupants on that floor. 8th floor command then reported to 1600 that all visible fire was knocked down and companies were opening up. Command then placed the fire under control and requested fans to start evacuating smoke from the fire floor.
Rescue 15-1 and Engine 11-3 started setting up fans on the 7th, 8th and 9th floors for smoke removal. When the smoke was removed companies started taking up. 1512 remained on location until 1am assisting Squad 16 with clean up.
